Closing session: wrap-up keynotes
The scientific programme of the Annual Meeting concludes with a round table discussion of reputed scientists discussing the main themes of the meeting. Each of them will present the state of the science and will highlight the most important findings with regard to the theme presented at the SETAC Europe 25th Annual Meeting in Barcelona.

Joan O. Grimalt is a research professor
of the Spanish Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) (since 1992), director of
the Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water
Research
(IDÆA-CSIC) and of the Center for Research and Development (CID-CSIC). He is an
Environmental Organic Geochemist from training and
devoted much of his scientific career to the study of natural and anthropogenic
compounds as markers of climate change and of the health status of ecosystems
and organisms (including humans). Find his concluding presentation.
Nico M. van Straalen is professor of Animal Ecology at VU University
Amsterdam, where he teaches Evolutionary Biology, Zoology and Environmental
Toxicology. His research interests include the application of molecular and
genomics technology to problems of ecology, including analysis of toxicant mode
of action and evolutionary adaptation to environmental pollution.

Mark Egsmose has held positions in a governmental agency (Danish EPA), in contract laboratories, in consultancy organisations and in industry. In these positions Mark Egsmose has among other activities been involved in risk assessment to the consumer and the environment of plant protection product, existing and new chemicals as well as pharmaceuticals.
Currently Mark Egsmose is holding a position as Senior Scientific Officer in the Pesticides Unit within the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and is directly involved in development of new – and revision of existing guidance documents for risk assessment of plant protection products for use in EU.
